How have you become so adept in color theory and use of color? I know you have many years of professional work behind you, but when you started out... did you just DO IT- did you paint with color theory in mind using unrealistic colors in the skin and atmosphere, or was this something you learned over time in studies of life drawings and paintings?
I see a lots of people use color theory in artwork that is less real and more stylized, but rarely do i see people who paint realism amplify color theory and contrasting colors in their work. These portraits in particular are stylized in a way, but you show much more structure of the human face. Most people blend it out too smooth to look real despite depth and lighting being real looking.
